Kolkata enthralled as IPC revisits

The historic city of Kolkata will be more than honoured to throw open its flood gates for thousands of delegates representing the pharmaceutical and allied sectors from India and abroad to participate in the 56th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress being held during 3rd to 5th of December.

This mega annual event of the pharmaceutical sector is a gathering of CEOs and top executives, officials from regulatory departments, pharmacists from trade and profession, R&D personnel, pharmaceutical consultants, hospital administrators, top officials of central and state agencies, academicians and teachers.

Kolkata is hosting 56th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress after a long gap of 14 years. Besides being the capital city of West Bengal -the house of 8 universities, several research institutions and CROs-this city of over 12 million residents is also the root of the Indian pharmaceutical industry.

Renowned scientist Acharya PC Ray established Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Limited in 1901. BPCL was the first Indian company to be able to produce good quality drugs and pharmaceuticals, chemicals and home products with indigenous technology.

More than 5000 delegates are expected to participate from India and abroad particularly from neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar etc. The Congress has always been a "never to miss" event for pharma professionals who get updated about the latest technological developments in the pharma sector.

In the accompanying scientific conference eminent scientists, pharmacists and professionals deliberate on important technical & business topics for three days. The scientific programme will comprise Memorial Lectures, Symposia and Plenary Lectures and theme sessions on Pharmaceutical Education, Pharmaceutical Technology; contemporary topics on NDDS, GSP, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioequivalence and Bioavailability, Special Analytical Techniques, Packaging etc will be held.

Besides, Scientific and Oral Paper Presentations in the areas of Pharmaceutical Technology, Medical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Indigenous Drugs and Herbals, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biotechnology and Biotherapeutics, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Education, Professional Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs in Pharmacy.

Pharmaceutical Expo 2004, an international exhibition on pharma industry, is being organised by FICCI - the apex business and industry organisation of India in association with the local organising committee. The exhibition will expose pharmaceutical companies to a focused target audience.
